    Many couples do not realise that their diets can actually be harming their chances of conception. Researchers at Havard University have confirmed what many experts already knew-that diet has a significant impact on your fertility. There are a number of foods to avoid during IVF treatment and these may sound familiar.

    Carbohydrates

    Processed, refined carbohydrates can have an adverse effect on fertility as they disrupt insulin which, in turn, can cause hormonal imbalances. One study indicated that it was not just the quantity of refined carbohydrates eaten, but women who ate low or high amounts of carbohydrates were equally affected. Women who eat white rice, processed breakfast cereals are at higher risk of ovulatory failure than those who eat beans, whole grains, fruits and vegetables and dark, wholemeal bread.

    Refined Sugar

    Fast burning sugar should be one of your top foods to avoid during IVF treatment. This can cause extreme levels of high and low blood sugar, causing glucose imbalances. Unlike slow-burning carbohydrates, refined sugar provides a “rush” of energy which creates a need for insulin. These peaks and troughs can cause insulin resistance which, in turn, can lead to infertility.

    Fats

    The relationship between dietary fats and fertility is sometimes overlooked. Some fats, such as polyunsaturated fats are beneficial and can actually improve fertility by reducing inflammation and increasing sensitivity to insulin. On the other hand, artificial trans fats and saturated fats are definite foods to avoid during IVF treatment as they can increase the risk for developing ovulatory infertility.

    Non Organic Foods

    Wherever possible you should avoid foods which have been produced using herbicides, fungicides and insecticides as these are believed to disrupt the hormonal system by introducing quantities of hormone-mimicking substances into the body. Very often, Xenoestrogen, a synthetic form of estrogen is given to crops and fruits as a form of insecticide to stop pests from reproducing. Unfortunately, it can disrupt the human reproductive system and foods to avoid during IVF treatment certainly include any treated with this chemical.

    Thousands of women suffer agonising pains leading up to and during their menstrual cycle and in many cases this can be attributed to ovarian cysts. During the first several years of your culinary you will spend a lot of time practicing your skills and then finding your niche.

With this in mind, organization is key. The chef has to stay organized, run the kitchen smoothly and efficiently, and conduct business.

    Hand in hand with directorial skills are managerial skills. A chef understands how to work with people and get them to work for him/her. These skills are the highest level because they involve sharing knowledge and skill with those working for you. The most often-seen method is training, but ultimately being a mentor to a cook and to develop their career is the highest skill a chef can accomplish.

    Broiled

    When a recipe calls for the food to be broiled, it means that the food should be cooked by direct exposure to a flame or heat element. You may find the broil setting on many ovens, although it is important to place the food on the top rack when using this setting.
